Trading as Jamaica Packaging Industries Limited (JPI) the combined operation will be investing in new technology to increase production levels, enhance domestic and export growth and offer greater reliability and value to our Jamaica customers.

Both Corrpak and JPI have invested heavily in developing the skills and expertise of their workforce and will combine these human resources with a larger capital base to assure global competitiveness. In the medium term the acquisition will result in increased employment, diversification of packaging opportunities and added value to Jamaica’s manufacturing Sector.

We had to modernise our equipment and that included site preparation and then the actual process of installation. As the world is getting smaller we need to have state-of-the-art technology that would protect our business,” said CPI’s Managing Director, Darren Leigh.

The machinery that was acquired had to have the capabilities to improve quality and accuracy. To complement this, CPI invested in first class front end operations. Their new design centre is equipped with leading software for the corrugated industry, and supports a self-sufficient approach to pre-press design and implementation.

These seamless operations include plate making and mounting to high levels of precision, and the ability to formulate and produce any ink colour specification that we need. These improvements support our production so we can manufacture a high graphic, tight tolerance accurate product that will meet our customers’ requirements.

This investment in both die-cut capacity and print capability will create the platform for employee development and business growth into the medium term. Our investment will place us at the forefront of capability in the Caribbean and Latin America and create the platform to expand our customer base regionally.

This year’s Trade and Investment Convention (TIC 2015) was held from July 8th – 11th 2015, at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, Trinidad. The event was hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment, as well as some major corporate sponsors such as First Citizens, TSTT (Blink-Bmobile), and Guardian Group.

CPI participated as a local exhibitor, with the team work of members of staff, a booth was constructed which was used to promote our products to local, regional and international business buyers and potential business partners during the period of the trade show.

There was competition amongst exhibitors, to outdo and distinguish themselves from the others by designing and decorating the best booth, in anticipation to draw the attention of TIC buyers and other attendees; CPI was no different as we used End Rolls to create pillars and SKF to highlight another use in the area of decorative purposes, which truly got positive responses from all who visited our booth.

TIC 2015 was successful for all participants we were able to showcase our wide range of products and were able to meet potential customers as well re-establish old ones.

All of our manufactured products are environment-friendly, recyclable and biodegradable. Paper discarded in manufacture is compressed, packaged and exported for recycling.
